On July 30, 2013, a group of scientists from KGHM CUPRUM Mining Research Institute and from the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining, and Geology of the Wroclaw University of Technology (WUT) in Poland visited the Canadian Centre for Geodetic Engineering (CCGE) and the GGE Department at UNB. The goal of the visit was to discuss cooperative research projects in mining surveying and rock mechanics.

Last July 18, we had the pleasure of receiving a visit by Connie Petersen, UNB Geomatics Engineering (then Surveying Engineering) class of 1977. Connie is the past-president of the Alberta Land Surveyors Association (ALSA) and regional manager of Stewart Weir's office in Lethbridge, Alberta.

GGE has a long history of collaboration with professional land surveyors associations across Canada and with industry. This is very important as the profession grows and advances, and as a large number of GGE graduates work in land-surveying-related areas.

For example, just recently, in April 2013, GGE's Chair, Dr. Marcelo Santos, attended ALSA's 104th Annual General Meeting and Convention, held in Jasper, Alberta. During the General Meeting, Dr. Santos had the opportunity to make a presentation to the delegates.

The picture shows Marcelo Santos and Connie Petersen, during the General Meeting.

Nine Doctors. Who? And what? On a warm day in July, in advance of the Beacon Satellite Symposium 2013 in Bath, England, nine friends and colleagues got together for a tour of Stonehenge, Avebury, and the surrounding countryside.
