Between 4 and 10 April 2000, the most recent multibeam course took place at the Travelodge Hotel in Burlington, Ontario, under the auspices of the Canadian Hydrographic Service Central Region.

Both graduates and undergraduates participated in the Spring 2000 Student Technical Conference that took place 30 and 31 March 2000.

Between 23 and 26 March 2000, a team of reviewers who represented the Canadian Council of Land Surveyors was in our department. The team was here to decide whether the cadastre option of our undergraduate program should be re-accredited. One of the exercises the team conducted was a session with a cross section of our students who were given the option of revealing to the team just what was good, bad, indifferent, or excellent about our department.

Brent Curtiss, systems manager in the Geology Department at Ohio State University, came up to talk to several UNB departments about their use of GIS and remote sensing software.
"My main interests are from a support point of view:
- What platforms are being used, how are resources being allocated
- What future platforms, resources are being considered
- Issues relating to host/network security, user management, Linux
He really enjoyed his visit here and came away with several good ideas.
