YORKE, Andrew Lamont Harding "Sharky" - 29, Five Islands, suddenly passed away with acute leukemia, Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in the presence of his family, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Andrew was born in Halifax on November 1, 1974. He is survived by his parents, Mitchell and Bonnie (Linkletter) Yorke; his sister, Paula; his sweetheart, Tiffany Taylor; his little buddy, Zackery and his little princess, Katie-Lynn. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lamont and Polly (Landry) Linkletter; paternal grandparents, Harding Alton and Edith (Eagles) Yorke. Andrew attended the College of Geographic Science and graduated in 1999 from the University of New Brunswick with a Geodesy and Geomatics Engineer degree. Andrew was one of those people who loved being in the outdoors accompanied by his family and friends. He had many interests. He loved to read, fish, snowmobile and ATV. He valued education and was continuously developing himself professionally. His career with Thales and then with Furgo GeoSurvey Inc. led him across the world where he had the opportunity to visit many exotic places and meet many wonderful people. Although his time with us here was short, he left a lasting impression on this world and is deeply loved and will forever be missed. The family would like to thank all of those providing support at this time of need. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Truro Hospital and the VG Site, QEII. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Saturday and funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday, both in Penial United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison and Lay Pastoral Minister Wayne Yorke officiating. Burial will then be held in Penial United Church Cemetery, Five Islands. A reception will follow in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Five Islands Cemetery or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro.
