GGE Professors and Students Present Papers at the US HYDRO 2007 Conference
(Continued from here.)
Dr. David Wells chaired the conference session about "Vertical Reference" and the workshop "The Sixth International Discussion Group Meeting on Uncertainty Management in Hydrography."
Ian Church gave a presentation titled "Use of a Nested Finite-Element Hydrodynamic Model to Predict Phase and Amplitude Modification of Tide Within Narrow Fjords". The paper, co-authored by Dr. John Hughes Clarke, was included in the conference proceedings. Ian gave also the presentation "Predicted Tides from Hydrodynamic Models" as part of the uncertainty management workshop.
Andres Millan gave a presentation titled "Sailing Directions in Digital Formats: The Real-World in Video". The paper, based on work supervised by Dr. David Wells and Dr. Lee Alexander, was included in the conference proceedings. Andres gave a presentation of the same paper, in the 4th meeting of IHO-IEC Harmonization Group on Marine Information Objects (HGMIO), held in the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM) at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, from 22nd to 23rd May.
Aluizio Oliveira took part in the poster session, with the paper "Recovering Wide Angular Sector Multibeam Backscatter to Facilitate Seafloor Classification" co-authored by Dr. John Hughes Clarke.
Steve Brucker took part in the poster session, with the paper "Monitoring Flood-related Change in Bathymetry and Sediment Distribution Over the Squamish Delta, Howe Sound, British Columbia", as part of his combined work with Dr. John Hughes Clarke, Jonathan Beaudoin, Craig Lessels (CHS Pacific), Kal Czotter (CHS Pacific), Ralph Loschiavo (CHS Pacific), Kashka Iwanowska (Geological Survey of Canada-Pacific), and Phil Hill (Geological Survey of Canada-Pacific).
