DEPARTMENT OF GEODESY & GEOMATICS ENGINEERING

The Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering (GGE) at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) (Fredericton Campus) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level effective January 1, 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate shall have a solid record of research and teaching achievements in geographic information systems and, to a lesser extent, in one or more of the following geomatics fields: digital image processing, metrology, remote sensing, mapping, real-time navigation and positioning, geomatics systems integration in land and marine applications, geospatial data analysis, precise deformation measurements and analysis in support of engineering and mining applications, hydrography and geodesy.

Applicants will have an earned Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline. Industry experience is an advantage. Applicants should be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of New Brunswick and to have completed the requirements for registration within 24 months of starting at UNB. Further information on the process to become P. The Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering comprises 16 faculty members. There are 9 teaching faculty, two research associates, and five professors emeriti who are still active in the Department. There are approximately 120-130 undergraduate students, and approximately 60-70 graduate students from over 20 countries. State of the art geomatics data collection, computing and communication hardware and software facilities are available both within the Department and across campus through collaborative research initiatives.
