Registered Professional Engineer

To be a registered Professional Engineer in New Brunswick, one has to be a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB). The candidate must show proof of having graduated with an accredited engineering degree or make alternative arrangements with APEGNB. (Graduates from a Canadian or American university must arrange to have an official transcript from the accredited university mailed directly to APEGNB. Graduates with a degree in a non-accredited program may also have to provide program and course descriptions for assessment by APEGNB.) International candidates would have to provide an official translation of all the documents. Candidates will have to provide proof of work experience (a Master's degree in Engineering may be considered by Council (of APEGNB) as equivalent to one year of engineering work experience). Applicants may be required to pass a Professional Practice Exam. This three hour, closed-book examination is designed to ensure familiarity with Professional Practice and Ethics and Engineering Law and Professional Liability in New Brunswick.
