Geocaching with Stanley and Harvey High School Students
(Continued from here.)
For these geocaching events, students were divided into groups of four and used a GPS hand-held receiver to navigate to twelve waypoints around their schools. The location of each waypoint was stored in the receivers and the students used the receiver, including its electronic compass, to find each waypoint.
After the students finished this event, Dave and Jay gave a short presentation on “Geodesy and Geomatics Fun Facts – Q&A” and “Career Opportunities for GGE Grads”, respectively. For the GGE careers presentation, Jay emphasized GGE's 100% employment rate with exciting positions available all around the world. He elaborated by saying that, depending upon one's priorities (location, income, quality of life), one could pick anywhere in the world to live and be able to find employment with the education provided by GGE.
It was a great experience, and the team enjoys going to different schools through New Brunswick.
