FUNCTION:
Perform support for undergraduate courses as well as support for faculty
and graduate student research in this department as well as others across
campus.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
<
Maintain departmental equipment, certain software, and
inventory.
<
Coordinate and maintain departmental equipment and certain
software needs.
<
Prepare, coordinate and dispense equipment for
instructional labs.
<
Assist in the development of instructional lab
exercises and materials.
<
Provide lab support to course instructors and graduate
teaching assistants.
<
Handle routine maintenance and incidental repairs of
instrumentation, and make arrangements for extensive repairs or upgrades as
required.
<
Provide technical support for faculty, staff and
students pertaining to the use and care of survey equipment and the
accompanying PC-based software/hardware.
<
Provide instruction to teaching assistants on the use
of equipment and software.
<
Assist faculty in the development and presentation of
demonstration and exhibit materials.
<
Make arrangements for obtaining additional equipment
for short-term use when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
<
Completion of a
recognized geomatics technology program (minimum 2 year duration).
<
Experience in
surveying, and either formal training or equivalent on-the-job experience with
PC-based surveying, GPS, CAD and terrain modelling software is essential.
<
Certification as a
geomatics technologist is highly desirable.
<
Some experience as a
stores person is desirable.
