The first place graduate prize of $1,000 sponsored by Focus Corporation went to Garret Duffy (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Dr. James Secord) for his paper "Application of Spatial Cross-Correlation to Detection of Migration of Submarine Sand Dunes."


The second place graduate prize of $300 sponsored by A. Chrzanowski & Associates Ltd. went to Kristian Llewellyn (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Dr. James Secord) for his paper "The Arctic Versus the Tropics: A Comparison of Environmental Factors on Multibeam SONAR Hydrographic Survey Operations."


The third place graduate prize of $200 sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Geodetic Engineering went to Travis Maxwell (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Dr. James Secord) for his paper "A Fuzzy Approach to Supervised Segmentation Parameter Determinations for Object Oriented Classification."


The first place undergraduate prize of $1,000 sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Geomatics, New Brunswick Branch went to LeMont Edwards (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Mr. Stephen Hartley) for his paper "3D Laser Scanners Emerged or Emerging Technology?"


The second place undergraduate prize of $300 sponsored by the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering went to Tristan Goulden (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Dr. Peter Dare) for his paper "Target Coordination and GMTI Math Library."


The third place undergraduate prize of $200 also sponsored by the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering went to Steven Brucker (above, left, receiving his award certificate from Dr. Peter Dare) for his paper "Interference Removal from Knudsen 320M Sidescan."


This was a large conference that went off without a hitch due to excellent organization by (above, from left to right) Jonathan Griffin, Sylvia Whitaker and Mazhar Rafiq.


The graduate competition was judged by retired professors Angus Hamilton and Gerhard Gloss. As a token of the Department's appreciation, Dr. James Secord (above, left, with Gerhard Gloss) presented each with the traditional mug and pen.

The undergraduate paper competition was judged by Mr. Stephen Hartley, Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors; Mr. Derek Davidson, NB Department of Transportation; and Mr. Bernie Connors, NB Department of Environment and Local Government.
